MENSA MOVIE MATINEE

Last month’s viewing of Hurt Locker was quite enjoyable. A month in the life of a crew that detonates bombs in war torn Iraq. Very real, and it gave us a human perspective on the psychological ravages of war.

We will be meeting the afternoon of Saturday, September 19 for this month’s cinematic adventure. Movie and start time will be posted closer to the date.

MENSA POOL NIGHT AT THE GARAGE

The Garage is in Eau Claire (downtown). We will meet at 6:00pm on Wednesday, September 16th, shoot some stick and unwind after a long day. Great food and bevvies are offered by the in-house restaurant as well. Please RSVP Robert at robertanddiana@telus.net by the 14th. If we have a large group, we’ll need to reserve tables to avoid disappointment.

DINNER NIGHT

July’s Dinner Night was a huge success!!! Thanks to all who came out. We had a great time at Bolero’s and there was nary an empty stomach to be found afterwards.  For September we are going to employ a “Cheap Eats” theme and head over to CB Drive Inn. They are at 789 Northmount Dr NW (off of 14 St NW between John Laurie and Confederation Park). We’ll meet there on Sunday, August 20th at 1:00pm.

From what I have been told, they have a few picnic tables outside and no indoor seating. They can also get busy on the weekends. Still, the food is great and the prices are very reasonable. No RSVP required, just head on over.

As well as Cheap Eats night, I will also be researching some ethnic places to visit as well. If you have a favourite that you want to share, please let me know and we will set it up.

FLAMES GAME NIGHT aka PASSPORT NIGHT

This is always a night to remember.  We’ll meet at Bottlescrew Bill’s on the 25th.  Start a passport in the "Around the World in 80 Beers" plan. $5 gets you the passport and you have one year to sample 80 beers from all over the world. Every 20 beers you get a prize as well. If you don’t want to do that, they still have a fine selection of brewed bliss as well as a good food menu and TVs everywhere. 6:00pm on Friday, September 25. The bar is on the northeast corner of 10 AV and 1 St SW and I am usually in the corner table by the ATM.

MONTH END COFFEE NIGHT

September 30th will be the day for this adventure.  We’ll be at the Good Earth Café, 31 Crowfoot Terrace NW.  They have a patio, so we’ll hang outside as long as the good weather holds.  7:00pm – no reservation needed.  Look for the table with the Rubik’s Cube on it.
